About Us

Phoenix Creative Psychotherapy Centre (PCPC) was established in 2015 by four creative arts therapists with many years of experience in supporting the emotional well-being of marginalised children and families in the Regeneration areas of Limerick City.

PCPC was set up as an unincorporated body with three officers - Mary Carmel O' Donoghue (Chairperson), Antonia Brown (Accountant), and Gerry Carew (Art Psychotherapist).

PCPC achieved charitable status in January 2018. PCPC is funded by ABC Start Right, the Salesian Sisters Intervention Fund, SMILE, LSSC, and smaller donations and fund-raising initiatives.

The membership of PCPC includes six art psychotherapists, three music therapists, and two play therapists. All members of PCPC are Qualified to PhD and MA level in creative arts therapy or play. Three members are qualified and experienced supervisors.

PCPC Creative Arts Therapist members have many years of experience in working with children, young people and their families in the community and school settings. All members belong to professional bodies and have professional insurance and Garda clearance. All members are trained in Children First and are regularly supervised by qualified supervisors. Members attend CPD events and engage in research in their professional areas.
